the first 3 seasons were perfect. seasons 4-5 were very good.

after that, it's all downhill.

eric, turtle and drama should not be independently successful and wealthy. they're the fukking entourage.

and somehow, eric's rise is the most unbelievable :mindblown:

won't even get into all the different ways they did ari dirty

Plus another thing that came to me during my recent rewatch... Billy Walsh is the most annoying character ever. I find it hard to believe that Vince and E would have put up with anywhere near the amount of shyt he ended up putting them through. I understand he was the "tortured artist" and they both highly respected his work but the guy was a fukkin villain. It felt out of character for them to keep putting up with him. He long...LONG overstayed his welcome and yet they always kept crawling back to the guy. Made no sense.

walsh was terrible. being an a$$hole is fine.. especially for one movie. but damn, why did they keep dragging him back to do more movies? the star of aquaman can't find another talented director in hollywood?

you're right that it makes no sense why vince and eric put up with all that extra shyt.

vince kicked dom, a childhood friend, after 3 episodes.. but kept walsh around forever.. :beli:

I don't think y'all looking at it right (no diss. This is Entourage we're talking about. Not high theater so I'm not trying to get all deep) its not like Walsh was in all that many episodes (except the last two season which we all agree were shytty) he was the Scorsese to Vince's Di'Caprio or the Spike Lee to Vince's Denzel. They had "movie magic" and like I said earlier. Walsh was actually the one who came begging to Vince and E TWICE not the other way around. Walsh was that talented a$$hole who kept getting work simply because he was hot and that talented. E even said to his face that he hated his guts, but that a great script, plus Vince and Walsh's direction made a great movie.

right, i get what they were trying to do.. but walsh fukked around with vince's career all because of his ego.

just the fact that he wouldn't help vince land aquaman by showing james cameron the movie should have removed him from all future consideration from vince and eric.

then all the fukkery with medellin.. at some point during walsh escaping on a motorcycle and locking himself in a bathroom with an unloaded pistol.. vince should've checked him. vince hated bullshyt but he loved dealing with the KING of bullshyt. vince was fine with going to war with the head of warner brothers, but never managed to get an indie director to fall in line.

and then to offer him a third movie? :mindblown:

i don't remember walsh begging for anything before the johnny's bananas thing. vince and e approached walsh to do medellin. i'm pretty sure they came up with the idea for him to do the mountain movie as well. but not 100% on that.

all in all, walsh impacted vince's career negatively.. a lot. they made 2 movies together. the first was never released and the second ruined vince's career :lolbron:

I feel you.

Billy did beg for the Mountains movie. E was COMPLETELY against it and Vince wouldn't have done without E on board. Billy came hat in hand to E copping pleas....

And the first movie, Queens Boulevard, was released. It was an indie not a blockbuster and its what put Vince in line for more dramatic work.

Billy Walsh was an a$$hole. No argument there. He was also overrated after two critically acclaimed indies. My only argument was that overrated directors get work all the time, from big time actors. Its the Hollywood way....

I never understood why this was such a complaint until I came online, none of the people I talked to ever said this but I have seen it said a few times on here and the other site.. Just because they started off as nothing more than riding Vince coat ails doesn't mean they can't find there own hustle with all the connects they came across.. That isn't what was wrong with the last two seasons, it just seemed like they ran out of stuff to write about or were tired of doing the show

because the show was at its best when they were doing shyt together.. not living their own lives. it's not a show where i was rooting for their individual success. it's about vince being a movie star and the gang getting to live the life that comes with it.

i have no interest in watching turtle go to school, try to open up a clams restaurant, or beg ari for money to start a limo company. i have no fukking idea what happened with eric's career and how him and scott, a guy who couldn't get danny tanner on the phone, ended up running an entire agency. all of it was just boring to me.

drama is just funnier when he's miserable :yeshrug:

but if they somehow found a way for them to STILL chill together while being successful.. that would've been a bit better. but there were episodes near the end that specifically focused on them growing apart because each was doing their own thing.

this wasn't the only thing wrong with the show.. but they pretty much took every good thing about the show and made it different for no reason.

Even the Entourage has to grow up some time. E was already set up for independence from the first season and I rather enjoyed Turtle's gradual maturation. Also Drama ALWAYS longed to carve out his own identity away from Vince's shadow so that aspect wasn't what threw the show off. All of them becoming p*ssy whipped SIMPs acting like shallow caricatures of themselves was what killed the show

i think everyone agrees that the weird girlpower turn the show took was what killed it.

but the show was at its best when the gang was together.. at least for me :yeshrug:

I never saw it that way, to me the show was about a group of friends that up and moved out to hollywood together to help and support Vince, and by doing so put theirselfs in a position to make a living out there. I didnt expect them to always be loser, I wanted to see them win and didnt want to see the typical, they start beefing, somone gets jealous or someone changes and fukks it up. They never really grew apart they stayed together untill the end which never happens in hollywood movies

First off they rode Dramas coat tails at first before Vince broke big, they lived with him being Turtle and Vince before the mentos commercial . Johnny held them down so he deserved to make it in my eyes. This guy rode into battle for Eric no questions asked, took a beating for Vince when he was on coke , paid for Turtle to go to business school and got treated like shyt which to this day I don't get.

Drama didn't really get treated like shyt by the group though. Drama just stayed in Drama lol. They always held each other down. Vince STAYED getting drama gigs before Five Towns kicked off

the show is called entourage though. when i think entourage, i don't think about a group of individually successful people. it was vince and the boys. that's definitely how the show was for like 5 seasons.

then the show seemed to go out of its way to break them apart.

eric and vince beef for way too long.. turtle suddenly becomes an entrepreneur who wants to do it without vince.. snice fukking when?? :mindblown: vince isolates himself with sasha grey and cocaine. and they begin to emphasize that vince is spending time by himself for the first time.. etc.

i watched the show for the group dynamic.. them bullshytting with each other.. the vegas trip.. day in the valley.. :banderas:

drama was definitely down for the cause.. more than anyone else. but i don't think he ever had coattails to hang from or anything close. he was more of an inspiration to vince. i mean, drama was going through foreclosure before they even made it out to la.

turtle tells jamie that the only reason they could move out here was because of the money turtle made being a bookie.

i don't think he really gets treated like shyt by the gang though. him, eric and turtle all get shyt on.. it's just part of the dynamic.

plus drama was nuts.

It also doesn't mean Vince and the boys, they were his boys that helped him in different ways, I don't understand why it's a problem they eventually got their own money. And I never felt like they were that far apart.. But I can't make you like something, I'm just saying THAT wasn't what made season 7&8 weaker than the rest , like has been said before.... Whatever I enjoyed it all 8 seasons, some more than others, it's unfortunate those things brought the show down for you
