Rupaul wasnt taken seriously like Sylvester was. Sylvester was known for his music, and had hits. Rupaul was just a black guy in drag with some music he put out that was just big with certain demographics. He was just someone to laugh at for the mainstream. Im still bugging how Sylvester made music, and wasn't really scorned for being so feminine, but in that type of music it wasn't that big of a deal I guess.
