Agree with this.

I set mine up to open with "My Darling" which makes the concept flow that much better. But 3 AM hits hard as an opener, so you lose a little to gain a little.

I did that too. I opened it with that initial skit because they actually tie into each other with My Darling starting with an alarm going off and Em waking up. It's very obvious the two were meant to go together but I guess the label had other ideas.

Evil Twin is :wow:

We got a song where Eminem is ciphering with himself in 2013. His best lyrical performance on a song since Encore. Period. Punchlines, the syllables, the song is lyrically perfect. It's essentially a Control response, has several sort of references that I think connect the two.

A few of these songs really make me feel like the original MMLP. Namely Rhyme Or Reason, Bad Guy and Brainless. It's not as good as the original as a whole, but it duplicates the feel in terms of the unpredictability and the masterful nature of his rapping.

I wish the album had Dr. Dre involved in a more tangible way, though. No way a MMLP sequel shouldn't have any Dr. Dre beats. I respect Rick Rubin's contributions at times, but the production and the hooks on MMLP2 don't measure up to the quality of rapping. Dr. Dre is always good for solid hooks and great production.

MMLP2 has more individual songs I'll play over and over - I've already played Evil Twin some 50-plus times. Relapse is still the better overall record IMO, though.

Going to have to give it a listen. I didn't like anything he released so far off it but rap god. So we shall see.

This album makes Encore look like Only Built For Cuban Linx. Seriously, listen to Encore and be amazed at how much better and naturally skilled he sounds on it

fukk that album. Yea his flow is smoother, and the production is probs better, but the subject matter and lyrics are just too damn stupid. Even the better songs are not that good.

Where does Em go from here? Is he able to start rapping about corporate shyt ala Jay-Z? I don't know if his flow can handle that kind of topic. He was close though back in 03 on them 50 cent and obie trice records, repping shady records and acting gangsta towards murder inc.

:mindblown: @ his flow on the last verse of Wicked Ways. That shyt was perfect 8 Mile Era flow Em. wow. Wish he would have used this throughout the album or on a few joints. At times his flow and enunciation usage sounds choppy.

:what: @ leaving Survival on the album and not Don't Front.

:salute: to Em for dropping his screaming flow (a bit) and focusing on rhyme schemes rather than punchlines. Recovery is easily Ems weakest album lyrically.

I 'm still wondering would we have got a better album if Dre had his fingerprints all over this rather than Rubin. The beats on Relapse were so raw.
