Evil Twin is
We got a song where Eminem is ciphering with himself in 2013. His best lyrical performance on a song since Encore. Period. Punchlines, the syllables, the song is lyrically perfect. It's essentially a Control response, has several sort of references that I think connect the two.
A few of these songs really make me feel like the original MMLP. Namely Rhyme Or Reason, Bad Guy and Brainless. It's not as good as the original as a whole, but it duplicates the feel in terms of the unpredictability and the masterful nature of his rapping.
I wish the album had Dr. Dre involved in a more tangible way, though. No way a MMLP sequel shouldn't have any Dr. Dre beats. I respect Rick Rubin's contributions at times, but the production and the hooks on MMLP2 don't measure up to the quality of rapping. Dr. Dre is always good for solid hooks and great production.
MMLP2 has more individual songs I'll play over and over - I've already played Evil Twin some 50-plus times. Relapse is still the better overall record IMO, though.
