i like the taking it back to the old house, I just hope it musically it delivers in that vein
this shyt is going to be nothing like the first MMLP ...
it's literally impossible to recreate that feeling 10+ years later. this album is going to be so disappointing to hip hop fans but will do well on the charts. def platinum.
the gimmick is working, breh, after recovery there really wasnt any buzz surrounding this dude. Naming it MMLP2 has definitely changed that.Also Em just isn't in the same place. During that time he was still trying to get respect though SSLP was a success, people felt he was too "MTV" at the time. "MMLP" 1st single didn't help matters but the rest of the album he really got props from Hip Hop heads cause of his lyricism. He's just a different person now. I don't get the point of this MMLP gimmick he's doing but I hope the album is good.

no matter how bad the quality of music on the album is, the white consumers will go out in full force and support it, call it the greatest thing since sliced bread
My interpretation of the whole return to the MMLP concept really stems from the fact that he has the 3 personas within his music.
Slim shady is his "shadow" if you wanna take it to philosphy, that's who he created to give voice to his darkness, eminem is the RAPPER/ARTIST...Marshall is the actual person pulling the strings on the whole dance between the two.
The original MMLP was him revealing himself beyond the shock value and MTV appeal that the slim shady persona had managed to cultivate. When he was JUST rapping (infinite is an "eminem" album) nobody was really interested, hence the song "marshall mathers". The person that sat and watched all of this unfold finally spoke up and gave his perspective on all of it.
The whole "comeback" process after encore kind of mirrors that whole confusion of who he was and where he wanted to go with his sound. Shady showed back up and spazzed out on relapse...eminem came through on recovery to do the "just rapping" thing and now that he's allowed himself some time to grieve I think he's ready to speak for HIMSELF again.
It's why the theme to berserk, however you feel about it's execution is really centered around his influences, the beasties in particular really put that spark in him to do this, LL is a huge influence on him as well. This album is about him feeling at home again.
I could just be talking out my ass, but it sound good![]()
Knaw that's a good breakdown. I did kinda feel he was re-doing what he did on his 1st 3 albums with these last 3 but in reverse ordering.
Relapse = SSLP
Recovery = TES
MMLP2 = MMLP
Yea definitely a solid description. IDK what I would classify Encore as though, maybe Eminem persona but idk lol.
Here we go now, doe see doe now, curtains up, the show must go now
Ring around the rosie, the shows over, you can all go home now
But the curtain just don't close for me, this ain't how fame is supposed to be
Where's the switch I could just turn off and on, this ain't what I chose to be
So please god, give me the strength to have what it takes to carry on
Till I pass 50 back the baton, the camera's on, my soul is gone
4x platI see no issue with having a loyal fanbase though. There are a million white people who will buy Em and nothing else hip-hop related. Been that way for years. I'd be shocked if this album doesn't go at least 2x plat.
What did Recovery end up doing?
this is exactly how I feel. He shoulda never named it MMLP2 imothis shyt is going to be nothing like the first MMLP ...

so he has to rap with a normal voice and kinda steer back into that crazy shyt he use to rap about? right?
i wasn't worried about the album until he named it MMLP2, he knows he gotta bring it though...hopefully it's completely different than Recovery which i enjoyed. but i want it to be harder and way more hip hopWell I think there's no doubt he can still hit on that crazy/dark content (see Relapse), but IDK that that's necessary. He wasn't rapping about "crazy shyt" on TES and there were some amazing songs on there. But I think the voice absolutely needs to be more normal in order to have any chance of being great, I can't stand all the annoying things he has been doing with his voice the last 2 albums. I'm not getting my hopes up at all though.
