I think Elon wants to turn America into what he wanted SA to be. A repressive security state where the cac privileged are in charge and everyone else is a worker for privileged class goals.
It's interesting how Elon's ancestors were probably working a farm on a Lord's estate and their rebellions are what lead to popular vote democracy, but he and many like him are trying to move Western Democracies toward Oligarchy.
And if he wasn't such a addict to the attention, he probably could've pulled this off in a way where almost no one (publically) knows his name.
