This is incredibly accurate and my first thoughts when opening the thread, the left is basically what it was in the 60's, and I thought that because Hippies are still the most visible leftists ever lol. The biggest thing that I can think of that has changed is that civil rights now features lgbtq matters prominently. Ideas like UBI, free health care, identity politics, etc have all been around for the longest. It's the right flirting with facism and an ever expanding sense of greed that has pushed the political spectrum further, and that's what makes the center seem so unappealing nowadays too, because look at who you're playing center to?

But in all serious, as if was wasn't evident from the start, that a white south african could harbor racist and bigoted thoughts, you are right in this essentially sealing the deal for anyone on the fence. And I don't care for interpreting the details of the image but anyone that refers to themselves as "left of center", "centrist", or "right of center" has always been on time to me. Especially when your means for deviating towards the center are on social lines, and not economical. Economical is too but not as bad as social.
