I do think he's trying to tank the country so much he can implement martial law and a surveillance state, but that's a much less guaranteed plan, because he won't have the capital/manpower to support the system he wants to put in place.

I hope he doesn't think AI will be able to supplement all of the systems he's about to crash. I mean, chip manufacturing will be a big part of that control and he's shuffling it to China's favor.

Like if he was really trying to be an authoritarian, he would move slower because he can build public sentiment as well as put the right people in place. He's torpeding public sentiment and he certainly doesn't have the right people in place. Competency will be replaced by ruthlessness, but he doesn't have the manpower to do that, the security state is literally being disassembled and rank and file police aren't really that capable and will be at 300:1 disadvantage versus the general public.

Country is woefully undereducated, more racist and xenophobic than I thought... but honestly, way more tolerant to all of these things as well as oligarchs not even pretending to give a fukk what they look like anymore. That tolerance is something I wasn't expecting. I do think we will come around, but it may be too late by then.

And unfortunately pandemics looks like beginning of the end. It was a perfect time for all propaganda around the world to spread when so many people were sitting at home doing nothing. It is so bad all over the internet that if you use incognito mode with all recommendations shut down, you are going to get presented with a lot of far right wing information, because they have wealthy donors paying for that. I have even talked to folks from other countries and they noticed same trend. Youtube, Facebook, Twitter obviously. Reddit still holding up in certain subreddits.
