I think Marcus Garvey had the most impact of any leader in North America. His movement planted the seeds for most of the movements that came about later.

There was Malcolm Little. Elijah Muhammad Made Malcolm X AND even Malcolm gives that credit.... The fact of who his father was have very little affect on anything. Ntm, Malcolm is the one the movies and white media gave a Postal Stamp too- Elijah Muhammad created madd legends.
The UNIA had a strong 7 or 8 yr run. Prime of it was 6 yrs. Im not sure Mathematically we can compare the NOI and the UNIA- even though we give much respect to the god Garvey.

I know the impact of the NOI, and I also know that Malcolm X was most responsible for the rapid expansion of the NOI from 1953-to the time he left the organization. More so than Elijah Muhammad.
That's no disrespect to Elijah, just my opinion. The facts and the written history of the NOI would support my opinion though.
I've read about Elijah's history and recognize his impact and how he revived the NOI.
I don't have the time to really make the case for Garvey, but if you read any article or book about the UNIA, and the climate that existed when it was created, you'd be hard pressed to name a figure who had more impact..
