Also, the bigger question we should be asking is why do black women make elite status and decide to date/marry white men? Thats probably a discussion elite black women are not ready for.

Um, if you have the slightest experience in "elite" fields you know this has been an ongoing discussion for years. The usual reason given is that in every one of those elite fields there are 30x as many white men available as there are black men and half the black men are already taken by white girls.

On the actual topic of the pick, I haven't been paying a ton of attention but I'm glad Ketanji Jackson was picked, from the little I know she's looked like a solid judge for years and actually cares about the shyt we care about.

People are irrational about this.

A lot of black women just get tired and settle down with people on their level.

Black men gonna have to find a way, some how, despite the obstacles, to present themselves as reasonable mates on par with these high achieving women.

Do you think its that simple? Just because there is a racial quantity variance doesn't give them an excuse.

What about the possibility that they look down on black men and see whites as their equal? I dont think its as clear cut as you state.

And yes it matters she has a cac husband. Why did all of the alleged nominees who are married have one? Are you seriously saying there are no Black female judges married to Black men? Zero? Not even as a red herring?

So when little black girls see the Vice President and Supreme Court justice, it will be implanted in their minds, that in order to make it you have to be a bedwench.

This. these things matter immensely, and it's no accident.
she seems decent ideologically, but there are dozens of people who'd make the same decisions if they'd been selected.

she's being chosen as a role model, and little girls won't see these powerful women as the strong backbone of black families, using their talents to enrich the community they came from. they'll see utter assimilation into white America as inseparable from 'success'

Little black girls across america don't have anyone in their family/community they can draw inspiration from besides political figures?

I just gave their argument because you said they don't talk about it and they actually do. I'm not embedded in the collective minds of tens of thousands of black women so I'm not going to speak on their interior thought life.

But if you went to any college you know it's a simple fact that there are more black women around then there are black men and a lot of black men are dating out of their race anyway, and the same dynamic then happens in a ton of industries (if you work in a hospital there are more black women around than black men, if you work in a school there are more black women around than black men, etc.), so the options are gonna be limited unless they go way out of their way. And even on this very forum I've seen posters mocking the idea of dating college women and claiming they're ruined, so they got that working against them too.

I rather not date women with a bachelor's or master's degree
