beat malenia. she was definitely as difficult as advertised, but not as unfair/unbalanced as people who didn’t like the fight made her out to be. imo.
looking back, there was only one move that felt super unbalanced: her running roundhouse kick. in the first phase, she eventually starts pairing it with overhand swipes, to the point you have to wait a moment before attacking. in the second phase she can and will go from the kick to one of her massive damage attacks when you attack, so much so that it’s best not to counter it at all.
otherwise? i didn’t feel like she did anything I couldn’t eventually learn and overcome. it just comes down to the strategy you deploy. I think because she staggers super easily and can lifesteal, the tendency is to go in super aggressive, to take advantage of her weaker defense. but i had MUCH more success being patient and waiting for opportunities to attack/counter and wear her down.
I went in with two scythes, and bloodhound step on my main weapon, which gave me more room to dodge her attacks. I wouldn’t use summons until phase two, and when I did I stuck with black knife tiche, who moves around enough to avoid most of the waterfowl dance. once tiche came out I would let malenia target her, topple her with blasphemous blade’s L2 attack, hit her with it again while she was on the ground, run, rinse and repeat. if she targeted me with waterfowl, I switched back to my scythe and used bloodhound step to dodge it. if she knocked off tiche, I used the same strategy from the first half, but focused on getting behind her attacks to avoid her ground-based rot charge-ups.
looking forward to fighting her again without a summons in NG+. cause I definitely can handle her first form with minimal problems now. and I noticed I’m nicer overall now too; beat malekith on my first attempt.
