news just doesn't report about this as frequent they do a shoot out or drug bust. but these organizations are billion dollar players, you don't obtain that level of market cornering and not be intelligent. I'm not glorifying the drug market or game, but I think the news never tell's the full story of any event.

Look up the battles of Fallujah. Most of the isis leadership fought in the iraq insurgency when we was there a killed American marines. They are in syria fighting the rebels,Assad, kurds, hezbollah,IRGC,Iraqi shia militias. They fighting the kurdish peshmerga. They are battle hardened and fought actual wars.
