Of course people should pick a good major, but that's just stating the obvious and is a deflection.

The fact that white high school dropouts tend to accumulate more wealth than black college grads shows that choice of major clearly isn't the issue here.
The issue is white supremacy.
We know this, and every couple of days we get another one of these threads highlighting it.:stopitslime:
Shout out to @theworldismine13 for posting threads containing potential solutions rather than this constant 'look how bad blacks got it' nonsense.

Suggest that more/better education is a potential solution when the entire premise of the thread is that it isn't brehs. :francis:

Rather than chastising black students for what majors they choose, a more realistic solution would be to find more effective ways to pass down wealth from generation to generation. It's been observed that in white families wealth tends to flow from parent-to-child (trust funds, houses, inheritances, help paying for education, etc.) whereas it's the opposite in black families (ie. black people with money often have to support their parents/family/etc.).

Can't build generational wealth without someone getting an education and a high paying job at some point. This could just be my perception but the first blacks in America getting big corporate gigs, doctors, tech, engineering, lawyers etc only just started in the 80's and 90's in decent numbers and that's why we're behind. I feel getting a good education is important for a number of reasons. I would have been able to gain the expertise and connections I have without going to college but I was extremely driven and more importantly was surrounded by the wealthy and business people my entire life without that basis I'd imagine it's difficult to create the environment necessary to strive today. I also had the time and freedom to see what works and what doesn't work and figure out what my passions and strengths are.

All we need to do is circulate our money, that is it!

You need all types of people to keep the money going. We need people to do plumbing, people to do IT, people to entertain, people to cook, etc. Our problem is we spend our money mostly with other groups. Think about it. When you want a quick meal, we go to the Chinese spot, a pizza spot, or chicken/hamburger spot. Rarely do people think of some soul food. We need to open fast foods that cater to black american soul food, and make it ours before others take over, and call it southern food. I see a change happening with a lot of young people, and they want to spend money with their own. Its small but, technology is causing it to grow. Apps such as "Around the way" and " buy black kc", is helping this spending habit to change. It just needs time, and promotion. I believe it can happen. Ferguson, and all these foul people who have been showing themselves since President Obama has been in office, It was a blessing because people were really thinking things were good, and racism was gone. We now KNOW it is still here, and people are waking up:blessed:

this is really a dumbass article

first of all who said that education would eliminate inequalities

and most importantly who said our goal as black people is to be equal?

black people need more than education, we need capitalism, business and an internal economy

and our goal isnt to be equal, thats some white liberal gibberish, our goal is to dominate

And even if we did make the move to all STEM majors, next thing would be 'why not get a masters or doctorate :frogbiz:'

The deflections and goalpost movement never ends does it :francis:

They should go to worker unions or own businesses. People with master degrees in STEM are damn near in poverty and the flooding of immigrant workers in STEM drive down wages.

Also, this study seems to not take into account that not that long ago it was easy for a white guy to drop out and still build wealth through a good job. We didn't start getting educated well until the getting in the job market started to decline.

Look at wages since 1970 and obvious historical trends this shouldn't be such a shocker.

You guys really believe there are skilled, talented, intelligent black people out here starving? These companies can't fill jobs because this supposedly educated workforce(as a whole) is not skilled in the right ways. Anyone who thinks education hadn't been a stepping stone to wealth and prosperity for thousands of black families is an idiot.

So true, these kind of numbers don't change overnight.

if the goal is domination then you must be ok with the current situation because if it was us on top you'd justify holding on to power? :usure:
so thereby is nothing wrong with white supremacy? :usure:

when it comes down to the wire there's no amount of education that can shield a negro from white supremacy.

neil degrasse tyson, dr. cornel west, dr claude anderson, marc lamont hill etc... all these brothers cannot hide from white supremacy. even all time greats like myself and farrakhan have to deal with and feel the hate from white supremacy.

"lack of education" is just one of the cards used. shyt. they can even flip it and say one is overqualified.

white supremacy capitalism is very fine tuned whereby some white folks get hated on too so that racism and discrimination isn't so blatant.

when i want to get shyt done i use the old school ways... i run up on folks and lock the room and beat up or threaten ppl. that's the only way they listened.

that education shyt is a slow process and gives trolls time to control and take you out. it's good to have some or plenty education but also understand if you want to get shyt done you gonna have to get into some gangsta shyt. this has always been about economics and control. and the only way to get ahead is to pull some shyt. rob, steal, lie etc... and not get caught. and right now jewish white folks are the best at it.

:childplease: Regardless, black engineering majors have similar employment rates to white liberal arts majors.

Black engineers employment numbers are relative to general population numbers. The "low" employment rate for black S.T.E.M. employees is because there aren't that many black people majoring in and graduating to S.T.E.M. fields to being with...even at HBCU's with engineering programs. Liberal arts majors are just no employable without some other form of education on top of it. Not really and apples-to-apples comparison.

i wouldnt say that there is nothing wrong with it, but i reject the idea that what we call white supremacy is some kind of aberration or something peculiar to human history, its actually normal, through different time periods and different civilizations there has been _____ (fill in the blank) supremacy, we just happen to be living in a time and geography where europeans are on top

the only "morality" imo that is important is respect for individual rights and the rule of law

the goal of black people should be to increase our economic and political power, i disagree that black people should be part of a moral movement to make the world a better place, i think its admirable and i think as individuals black people should work toward a better world, i am for making the world a better place because im me, not because im black

in other words trying to make the world a better place is a separate conversation from black empowerment

How many human beings can gain PhDs? :heh: let's be honest. Most humans are average skilled workers with interests outside of the workplace. Forcing the general population to STEM everything will create a lot more stress, and lower pay due to increased competition. The solution always been entrepreneurship
