Eddie is my favorite comedy actor and probably top 3 comedian all time. With that said, I don't know if he still got it.

You can still be funny and not be in the mix anymore, but Stand Up is an art that needs to practiced as much as athletics to remain funny. Stand up isn't even so much about the joke, as it is the performance.

Part of me feels that he's been up in the clouds too long to have anything relevant to say or he won't let his ego get to a point of vulnerability where it's funny.

I think if he can come down to earth and talk about where his head has been at these last 20 years, growing, maturing, fatherhood, divorce, his career...maybe touch on the tranny shyt...but in a humourous way...it can be funny.

Eddie was raw though, the shyt he was saying in the 80s, he can't do now.

So my fear is, he's still probably funny as fukk, he just doesn't have anything to say. And that's a problem when you're in an artform and you've been successful beyond the imagination.

Like I hear he's still the funniest dude around ina room full of comedians, but is it funny or is it just reverence for a living legend...

It's probably real. I don't think a comedian would ever lose the gift of just being funny talking shyt with people, writing an hour set that can hold people's attention and still put on an entertaining performance is a different story.

Have you ever known someone that was funny as fukk around your group of friends? Pull them outside the group and those jokes don't hit the same...that's what I'm afraid of.

Eddie is a legend and regularly just hangs out with comedians, celebrities and his small Hollywood circle.

Chappelle could disappear for 10 years, because he didn't really disappear...and he still had something to say. It's the exact reason Kevin Hart can put a special every 18 months and it not be funny...he doesn't have anything else to say.

Eddie disappeared man...outside of taking on random bullshyt flicks every 3-4 years, he's been a borderline recluse. And I'm also afraid he won't have anything to say because of his ego.

You can't do that in comedy. It's why Chris Tucker's last special was lukewarm...I mean, he's not in the same realm as Eddie, but the concept still applies.

If he starts doing sets for a couple months and actually opens himself up, I think he'll get it back.

You guys think it's his references that make him funny?:gucci:

It's his creativity, story telling, wit, and stage presence

All that shyts like riding a fukkin bike :wow:

Eddie still got his talent, he can do brilliant shyt like Nutty Professor & Dream Girls all day. But that attitude & stage presence that comes from a young nikka not giving fukk what people think can def be lost. Just compare a young Chris Tucker to the current version.

I don't blame Eddie at all, I mean how can somebody becoming that uber successful not change them significantly. Eddie don't gotta do standup to survive.

Think of a dude like Earthquake who's old now, but still got the same essence & swag as his younger self. Although he's been somewhat successful, he's still had to remain grounded for the most part.

Yeah, most of his kids are grown now, so he'd have to get back on his Delirious/Raw steez. Most of the comedians that have done movies with him usually say he was the funniest person on the set, so he can still bring the funny. He might be able to tell some funny True Hollywood Stories like his brother (R.I.P.). :manny:
