But I think Heyman did that to feed into the trend that they were all top guys and running the industry. “Look, we got one over here too”. Lance Storm should have been built into that spot.

I didn't have access to ECW until 98' but it was so much fun as a kid. Felt like a real outlaw promotion with innovative work and characters. Indies been trying to recreate that feel for 20 years now. It's not coming byke

Yeah, ECW was great in it's time, but it's inspired a lot of bad wrestling ever since.
Just watch AEW and the endless stream of garbage matches or the indies where guys are just mindlessly coloring everybody because it's Tuesday.

It's tricky ECW was trying hard as hell to be something besides WWF/WCW and that's what we got
Instead of trying to be different like ECW was trying to the outlaws are still trying to be ECW
It might take somebody that didn't watch ECW, maybe even wrestling period with a fresh perspective that somehow ends up in the business. All the pieces are there though. Even cool little interactive shyt like hotlines to get wrestling scoops and hear talent shytting on WCW/WWF or funny 90s Calvin Klein ripoff skits. All that stuff you can do now easier than back then. The right person/people just ain't in the business yet
