it looks over nice bloodless confrontation and I would advise other civil society and well meaning people in other African countries with dictatorships to take note. Most of the soldiers are severely underpaid and there is a lot of corruption. mismanagement of funds that the vast majority of the armed forces are dead broke. So a strategy would be to to try to influence them not to carry orders from their heads of state and convince them that their standard of living would significantly improve in a democracy or non-authoritarian government.

Yep. And other regions of Africa should learn from the ECOWAS by being awesomely united! This was good.

Oh. You weren't clear on that in the other post. :skip:

Botswana has always made strong statements on Zimbabwe :yeshrug:

Now if you're talking about rolling into Zimbabwe, then that's a different story.

will they do this too Zimbabwe ...Mugabe in 2018
Unless there is a coup and those are rare in Southern Africa. As long as South Africa backs him nothing of the sort will happen. There will never be any condition that Mugabe would accept the results and turn back, he knows that if he did what Jammeh did and concede then the calculus would be different. In the 2008 election the Government realized they were losing when results were coming in constituency by constituency and they stopped announcing those and came back with Mugabe having lost the first round with like 42% or something to Tsvangirai 47% and then they turned the army and political machinery to win the second round uncontested but lacked the political capital to form any government and Mbeki forced forced him to form a coalition government because the entire country had virtually ground to a halt.

There is an expression which says you can choose to leave through the door or a small window. Jammeh who ruled his country for 20+ years is leaving and seeking asylum and probably won't be welcomed there or not even buried there. He is leaving through a small window after 20 years of ruling you can even chill in your own country.
