The article agrees with you (so do I).

The point is that it is indeed his right not to be politically active all the time, BUT then don't go around calling Harry Belafonte a 'boy' and telling him to 'sit down' . And also don't say some shyt like 'my presence is charity' as if his non-involvement, while nothing wrong with it, is something praise-worthy.

I'm not defending JAy at all,,but rap music/mc'ing is built upon ego, brashness and saying stuff like that.

For some reason, he's gotten so popular that people take his stuff too seriously. Maybe it's his persona.

Kanye, a huge star of his own, could say the same thing and nobody would care.

They dont take you seriously when you state that you would have been killing blacks and selling drugs instead of -whatever your profession is. Instead of focusing on why that person would have been dealing and what they accomplished...... they wanna diss the person for every tasteless comment the person makes.

About the article.....

Yeah like the 400th article that talks about this shyt in one week. keyword talks.. I really don't see too many people even thinking about this kids living like its a 3rd world.

Why do they have to single out da gawd about this... Belafonte said it's sad “to see the collective of the celebrity power has not been applied to bringing consciousness to the inequities that we face.” He was talking about all the artist including the Movie stars and athletes.

gottdamn. I mean they aren't even wrong in what they are stating... but yeah in the 1960's ( the time that Ebony wants to talk about) it was regular people and religious folk that were making moves... It would be dumb to ask Two Chains to open up a boys club.....

i respect jay for his views even if they are different from mines, my opinion is that i see no reason why any black person should give two fuks about rap music and rappers, i fail to see what black people are gaining by supporting and defending this abomination called the rap industry

lol But then he also set black people damn near back a half century w 'birthday song'.

To me Jay Z's Blueprint was black excellent. Regardless of anything he's a true artist.

Low Key Jay Z has done a few things for water shortages in Africa, black kids here, and his people in his inner circle. Keeping Bleek a millionaire > Public Charities.

this begs the question, have these old black people forgotten that men like jay and 50 cent used to be crack sellers, and were not above killing other black people to protect their profits if it came to that? people may be asking a little too much of them...

Yall dudes really need to stop feeding into these "stats", especially when it comes to black people. "Stats" often lie about everything when it comes to black folks. From the AIDS rate down to crime rate, and everything inbetween. It's the ultimate liberal lie.

The article was reasonable, and it even pointed out where Harry was wrong.
