:childplease:This challenge ain't shyt. I'm a chef and the one thing I've learned is how to make food cheap. I can go through anybody's refrigerator and make a gourmet meal from food most people would throw out.

You can buy a pack of chicken and a can of beans or corn or whatever for a bout 4 bucks depending on how good of a shopper you are.

That can last you about 2-3 days.

Man, some of you are in serious trouble if you happen to land on hard times. Luckily, I can offer a couple tips on how to survive on a low budget:

1. Food Pantries - Most are listed in the Yellow Pages or you can check with your local Social Services Department for listings. Most religious organizations participate in some capacity, particularly the Salvation Army. You don't need money, just ID in most cases, and you can :eat: decent, nutritious food. Most pantries operate on a schedule, so you can visit several different ones in a week's/month's time and fill your fridge. I did this for a year after my divorce.

2. Shelters - If you find yourself without a roof over your head, go immediately to your local Police Dept. if regular local Gov't. offices are closed. They will get in contact with someone in Social Services (there are Emergency Contact people @ all times) who will then place you in either a temporary shelter or motel/hotel/rooming house depending on your legal situation.

Many people are too "proud" to go to one of them.

Many churches give out food too.

Pride ain't gonna stop your stomach from hurting due to emptiness.

I ate WELL for a whole year and spent 0$ on food. Pantries also give out toiletries: soap, shampoo, toilet paper, razors, toothpaste/toothbrushes, etc. Only things I paid for were rent and transportation. I went to my aunt's house to do laundry every other week.

I got stories that would make people look at my posts like :wtf:

I have been there my friend and almost decided to make a MAJOR change years ago when I was trying to make things easier for myself.
