The Mobb diss was definitely before he passed. Matter fact, it came out like the very week right before he got shot. Of course the album came out later, but "Drop A Gem" was actually supposed to be the first single. For obvious reasons, they had to pull it back and drop something else instead... but it was def. out there right before the shooting.

The Lil' Kim lines on the original "Big Momma Thang" was before he passed too... had it on a tape in July of that year. And of course, they got cut by the time the album was out.

The Jay-Z Tyson fight lines are not about Pac... listen to the verse and it's pretty easy to understand. "You cats is home, screamin the fight's on, I'm in th 1500 seats watchin' Ty-son"... where nikkas drew a 2Pac dis out of that is beyond me. But yeah, the verse on "Dead or Alive" was definitely after the fact. :ehh:

The Biggie "and the winner is..." verse was also that summer before Pac died, so that doesn't count... but of course, "Long Kiss Goodnight" does. :ehh:

But ONE thing I think should also get dispelled is this belief that Pac had this whole host of rappers shook to death when he was alive... when most of the disses by him were not made public until after he passed. Before he died, the only people who anyone knew he was going at were Biggie, Puff & co.... and Mobb Deep. So all that shyt about how he made records about Nas and Jay-Z and The Fugees and De La Soul, and nobody said shyt is :duck: Those are mostly via songs and interviews that came out after he died. These weren't disses that were out there in the air already for that whole summer and nikkas just decided to keep quiet.

I think it's kinda foul to STILL go at a dude after he died, but fukkit.

Where do people get the idea that pac was such an scary and intimidating figure other rappers was afraid to diss him?

From the same place they get the idea that he was Malcolm X and Jesus rolled into one...

It's just one of those folk hero stories people like to tell... Pac's like the Chuck Norris of rap.

And I'm not a Pac hater, I just hate the :duck: that come with the topic of Pac. He was great enough on his own merit, all the extra worshippin' and exaggeration is just :childplease:

LL on "Phenomenon"

Baby girl was draped in Chanel
Said she love Tupac but hates some LL
Seen her at the bar with anklets and toe rings
She can take a prince, turn him into a king
I was looking at her in the limelight, pearly whites
Said her man get paper but he don't live right
All these emotions flowing inside the club
Do you really wanna thug or do ya want love?

don't rewrite history breh. several people in this thread already pointed out that the Tyson line wasn't a pac diss it was jay's regular flossing thing. Basically your reasoning pretty much says anyone referencing being at a tyson fight is dissing Pac, it can't work like that.. there has to be some actual diss

lil kim's diss was when he was alive, they took it off after he died.

jay-z dissed him on dead or alive pt 1 when he was alive, then he did part 2 to show respect after he died.

lmao @ that Jay line from i Love The Dough being about Pac, what a fukking idiot.
