Not to mention, a lot of 90s hip-hop has 80s R&B to thank for some of its most remembered songs, namely damn near anyone who blew up between '94 and '98. :manny:

how you gon put them two Ja Tracks > Always on Time? The goat bytch track :beli:

"put it on me" is by far superios to "always on time".

"put it on me" is one of the greatest rap love songs ever. on the flip, "always on time" isnt even hot.

lol I keep seeing the same thing happening over and over, but hiphop heads are still in denial. Nostalgia is a seductive liar.

Anyway, Rap is better now than in the early 90s. It's also much realer because rappers aren't scared to be themselves anymore. While back then everyone was playing cartoon characters.

youre on crack if you think this current era is even comparable to the early '90s. and nostalgia has nothing to do with it. it has more to do with politics and the industry watering down the artform almost completely. but nobody ever wants to talk about the real issues.

lol @ everybody in the early '90s not being themselves. clearly youre not even up on the era.

How can that era be underrated when most of the songs were on the billboard?

Underrated now as a great time in hip-hop/r&b... cause there's this whole "every year after 1999 was wack" sorta thing that gets said, and so the goodness of a year like 2003 often gets underacknowledged. Sometimes I've even known people who grew up in that era kinda shun in it hindsight, cause of the whole '90s thing- when I remember damn well them nikkas were lovin' all that shyt and listening/buying faithfully. nikkas were in high school bumpin' G-Unit, Dipset, Roc, down South joints, Nas, buyin' the new Kay Slay CDs every weekend... and still talkin' bout it was wack... naw bruh, your memory's wack :pachaha:

I got you but hip hop was still selling back then but I get what you saying. Sometimes it takes years for people to like certain songs. I'm like that somewhat but if its hot I won't front on it. I remember dudes was hating on Nellys music but I always liked his songs.. So I know what you're saying.

:to: everything was hot back then. From mainstream to underground,
I wasn't embarassed to listen to the radio back then neither. :sadbron:
