I get the aesthetic he was going for. One issue is that it's hard to focus on the lyrics, and I think that's a detriment or miscalculation with regards to the mix. I actually opened Genius (something I never do) to follow along and the lyrics are potent, no doubt.

A lot of the beats are just weak to me. The Bends, Azucar, Loosie... just boring loops that go nowhere. Honestly feels like old Soundclick amateur "beats". It's like he wanted to capture the feel of the interludes that play between beats on Madlib tapes but missed the mark

Some like Red Water, Ontheway, Nowhere2go are fuller and come together better.

Overall it's hard to rate this. It's clearly a very personal project and if it resonates with some, I'm happy for them. It's just hard to even consider this music, honestly

This is nothing more than an extended version of his ''Solace'' EP that he dropped a while back

Albums like this make me glad I don't do drugs, Over experimental.

My thoughts, dreams, plots, and my schemes
That's what's on my mind when I toss in my sleep
My heart like my pen when I jot and it bleed
My cart full of sin, when I shop it's a spree
I got some new leaves
I'm like "What's the word with you, sir?"
You just moss on a tree, I'm not concerned with you

I leave the curb when I'm crossing the street
I'm watching out for the Mark of the Beast
The badge on the policeman, black carpenter pants
A half ounce in 'em, another half ounce in my fleece

And on account of this, go ‘head and count me out of this
I'm out with the breeze
I'm dodging county, it's a thousand degrees
It's back alley shyt, my nikka, look
My eyes wide open, I'm sleepy, I'm on a highway
Paul Giamatti, a nikka was sittin' sideways

A bubble and a Skully when traveling through the Tri-state
And trouble play the gun, hear it clap and it make my mind race
Back and forth, I place fourth,
keep your torch
Got your morsels on my plate, motherfukker

I wasn't born, mama snatched me off the motherfukking stork on a Friday
Say that shyt to my face

Why would I listen to an MF DOOM clone

Rather just listen to DOOM than a generic copy of him
they are not the same. they appeal to two completely different vibes honestly. they both spit lazy but i feel like theres a clear difference between the two and he never came off like a doom clone to me. i dont even think of doom when i listen to earl.

Maybe with the rhyming shyt, but they rap about different shyt and Earls production is nothing like DOOMs.
exactly people that make this comparison must be thinking of doris and his super early OF shyt since i dont like shyt he has completely changed. DOOM is so animated in his rhymes and earl is very bleak, angry self reflective. Very different sounds but i will say Eclipse off this album def is DOOM inspired especially wit a line like "play the game no cheat code" :pachaha:
