The fact that this version cost $150 or however much, leads me to believe EA's goal is to make at least $200 off every person who buys this game. Whether you initially pay $150 or $60

You will need those points to do anything most likely. And I wouldn't be shocked if you have to make purchases year to year in your dynasty.

They're going to make US pay for them having to pay the real life players, and their profit.
