Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve is tackling Frank Herbert’s novel Dune and has told FANDOM that he aims to make it the Star Wars movie he never saw. Although he admits that making a film that’s different to Star Wars won’t be easy.

“Most of the main ideas of Star Wars are coming from Dune so it’s going to be a challenge to [tackle] this,” the French-Canadian director says. “The ambition is to do the Star Wars movie I never saw. In a way, it’s Star Wars for adults. We’ll see.”

Original 1984 Dune is still better than most sci fi films to date

I'll watch anything this man makes. He's my favorite director at the moment.

I've never read or seen Lynch's Dune, but something described as "Star Wars for adults" is intriguing to a person who loves Star Wars but hates how childish it is.

I hope Villeneuve gets back to making that gangsta shyt though. I'm not the biggest Sci-fi fan even though I liked Blade Runner and Arrival.

:mjlol:With this shytty director. Pay $12 for a sedative brehs
The fact that he thinks Dune in terms of fukking Star Wars, and not Dune a Sci-Fi entity that needs no reference and stands alone, tells you all you need to.
This will be a beautiful, but terriblly boring movie that misses the point and fails because it has a director that hates movies based on sensible characters.
