that was not a bad trade

for the Redskins it was. think about it. A shut down corner of Bailey's calibur is much harder to come by than a good running back like portis (especially since he was coming from Denver's zone blocking scheme in which you could plug virtually anybody into and produce a 1000 yard season). No doubt portis had a decent run with the skins but he was never truly elite.

Broncos definitely got the better end of that deal.

but he was truly elite.

And Bailey was not going to resign for the Skins.

And it was so easy to find a 1000 yard running back that the Skins didnt have one since Portis in 2008. Portis wasnt just getting 1,000 yards, he was getting 1400 yards and spearheaded two playoff runs. The problem wasnt Portis and his talent, dude was one of the best backs in the NFL, the problem was Joe Gibbs' misuse of him.

The only problem with that trade was the Skins giving a 2nd round pick to Denver, but Portis was a great running back here and was like 600 yards shy of being the Skins all time leading rusher.

Im convinced Portis would have ben a HOF rusher were it not for Gibbs trying to turn him into a powerback.
