ExactlyIt's an exercise that forces the body to use more strength to balance each dumbbell compared to a barbell press. The point of the dumbbell press is to work those extra muscles. Not to press out a one rep max. You don't want to get injured, you want to get stronger. So, yeah, 100 lbs. each dumbbell is a lot, but you can't compare it one-to-one against a barbell press.
I can throw up 100+ too at any point I feel like it but honestly I don't.
like homie mentioned above, it's mainly for those stabilizer muscles. I go light as fukk on dumbells and do a high rep to end my chest workouts usually and I don't give a fukk.
And if homie was a small dude it's more impressive too. It better be light weight if you weigh 250+ nikka
small increments of weight make a big difference with DBs
Only pushed out 2 reps, but I should be reppin the 110's easily by the middle of April.
but in my prime (2-3 years back) I was doing 100lbs 105lb dbs for reps on the flat bench, a lot of brehs at the gym be on it, obviously they are a minority. But to me elite is doing 100lbs on incline for reps, and a real incline, not no halfa$$ 160 degree angle, should be about 120 degrees.
