Makes sense considering Darkwing was always a send up of Batman and gritty superheroes from the late 80s.Found out that "The Duck Knight Returns" is mocking Christopher Nolan and the Dark Knight Trilogy. Even had their version of Bane and Commissioner Gordon make appearances.
Darkwing Duck is a real character in this? I thought it was a TV show.
i'm so lost at what you just said that I wanna watch this new Ducktales show now just to clarify. Was a tv show...did an episode about a studio doing a movie version of the old tv show to bring it into the new century for new fans. The lead actor playing DW was a huge DW fan and wanted to be just like him. His name? Drake Mallard. Meanwhile, the guy who played DW in the tv show turned out to be a bit of a jerk. Good dude but doesn't always have the best intentions. He let his demons get the best of him, trapped Drake in a closet so he could be DW in the movie. Launchpad broke Drake out, they confronted the original DW actor on set, and that final battle became their respective origin stories.
Launchpad talked Drake into being a hero for real and being the real Darkwing, and the original actor became Negaduck
The darkwing episode was fantastic
