The Breakfast Club is probably the GOAT coming of age stories ever (in movies). Stand by Me is 2nd. The foulest part of the movie is that come Monday, even after all of the bonding they did and tryna understand each other's worlds, you know these dudes never speak to each other in the hallways again.

The year 3030
tried watching it yesterday :hhh:. Couldn't finish it.

It does have a good spirit of the 80s but thats about it. Its got 0 plot, poor acting, didnt make use of its R rating, not to mention Emilio's terrible dancing.

it does have a plot. It's not a typical act 1, 2, 3, climax plot, but it does have a plot.

and make use of the R? what you want them to start dropping random f bombs or show some t*ts?

Poor cacs.

The Breakfast Club is meant to transcend race. It's every-teen, every-High School (even grade/middle), which is why it resonates. The jock, the thug, the popular kid, the crazy and the nerdy outcast - they aren't defined by their race in the movie. The only thing that brings them together is a Saturday detention

It's a beautiful movie. Tons of heart and humanity.

I think that everyone can relate to someone in that movie on SOME level. Hell, most of us probably had aspects of all the characters (I know I did at that age)

Planes, Trains, & Automobiles is also noteworthy for me. You CAN'T tell me that you didn't feel some type of way during the last half-hour of that film. It's not possible. That was a beautiful friendship, completely earned, and that shot of them carrying the trunk together always leaves me....:obama:

Speaking on humanity and taste and such...I've never been able to appreciate Ferris Bueller in his catelogue. I understand how striking the fourth wall stuff was at the time, but it feels like his coldest film.

I watched planes and trains a couple years ago and that shyt made me cry my eyes out :russ: i was on the couch listening to john candy talk about his wife and the shyt just started flowing.

John Hughes' gift was just understanding people, whether it was teenagers, little kids, or grown ups. He understood what it meant to be human and deal with complex emotions and how its not always pretty while also making it funny. Dude was a true genius.

You're right about Ferris being his "coldest" but it also speaks to a certain type of cat and I'm that cat lol. It's his coldest in the sense of it not really channeling anything deep but it does speak to a certain person and again, he understands it.
