i was raised on this principle

that to be well dressed is a form of etiquette

when you present yourself you do so in a manner that calls for respect

communication is more in the things you do and how you do them

you are always communicating even when silent

Some industries business casual is required, some industries its not needed. I will say this dont care who you are or where you wealth stands you better dress for the correct occasions!

I remember this one time donkey years ago did a pitch with a young tech guy he came like he was posing for vogue photo shoot. His ideas were amazing but nobody could get pass his attire nobody! Lesson learned dress for the occasion "always" period! I am usually business casual or suited always because of the industry I am in.

Honestly business casual is easier to dress don't have to think about clothes just throw it on and I'm out the door ready for war!

yeah make sure these cacs feel safe around you....that attire goes well with soft looking negros with no facial hair

More often than not when you see pics from back in the day of the legends, they was suited and booted. Guy Fisher, Nicky Barnes, Frank Mathews. You trying to look like a walking stereotype with the pen in his near future and I’m trying to look like a young Flukey Stokes in a bespoke suit. If you in the gray area wtf you trying to look like it?

To me, this was the whole mindset behind "respectability" and "respectability politics" that the talented tenth championed and that so many sjw nowadays say doesn't work.

Obviously, there are exceptions to everything, but this as a mentality is what separated many of the successful black families from the rest and continuously does so today.

Respectability doesn't stop racism. But it changes perceptions. More importantly, perceptions within ourselves and our own abilities.

Somebody gets it :salute:

The black image / reputation has been completely destroyed and it truly has had an effect on how we treat and feel about ourselves and each other.

I have a 4 year old daughter and I've completely switched up the way I dress since her birth, mainly to offset the negative images of the black man that she will be constantly subjected to over the course of her life

I agree to a certain extent except for the fact that what most people deem as formal is just what white society dictates.

You can be presentable without having to fit into that. I don't do white formal wear only at weddings and funerals out of respect for others. Besides that you will never catch me in a suit or tie for anything.
