Purpose of the thread - to give insight and opinions to those who are starting out or stagnant in his career especially in the business professional environment. The first step in upgrading and solidifying your wardrobe is your shoes. Before you get that first suit, you should get quality shoes, because you can have a $1,000 suit and if your shoes aren't on point, no one will remember the Armani suit you had on. Meanwhile, you can have Joseph A bank $200 suit on and a pair of quality shoes and look sharp as hell.

Now, you should always dress up to the standards of your boss or CEO/CFO. If they are in suits every day, you should ensure your wardrobe is on point, because if they care enough to wear those type of threads then they are looking for guys in the company who show that much care in their look as well.

I'm going to throw some basic shoes out here (sub $400) black and brown that you should eye. 2 top American brands are Allen Edmonds and Johnston an Murphies, while AE's are a little higher in price and Johnston and Murphy you can get a bit cheaper they are both quality shoes and you should budget yourself accordingly.

Shoes #1 - Allen Edmonds 5th Avenues black - shoe should be a staple in your wardrobe with the classic cap toe with a bit of flavor. You can wear this out with some jeans (tailored) and still look smart during happy hour. Very versatile and can be worn with a quality suit as well

Shoe # 2: Allen Edmonds Strands (walnut calf)

This is my favorite shoes at the moment, the color is great and the design really catches eyes. Easily worn with jeans, khakis, and even with a suit. Not fit for formal wear though.

Shoe #3 - Johnston and Murphy Presidents Shoes

Good enough for the president right? This is a much more formal and business wear shoe, I wouldn't necessarily wear this with jeans. But if you're in a professional /business casual environment this shoe is a solid choice

Shoes #4 - Johnston and Murphy Wingtips

question - Hey when do wingtips go out of style ?

answer - never!!!

whats wrong with jos A Bank? :lupe:

nothing wrong with Jos A Bank, you start of with what you can purchase and if that's your budget then rock it.

Now with that said, they tend to be cheaper quality (obviously), boxy in the fit, and not as stylish but for the price you can't beat them. Just be sure to get them tailored.

and I want to correct one thing - JAB actually has some decent higher quality suits but I always look at it as you can keep a Hyundai Genesis with all the accessories, fully loaded or you can get the base model 3 series for the same price - what do you go for? It's brand and the idea of quality (whether truthful or not).

But your suits wont' be shyt unless you got some SHOES to really set it off.
