the issue is that NBA basketball had the ultimate cheat code emerge (Steph Curry), and prove that winning basketball can be played at a level that demands less player development, less stringent player builds (dont need a tank for a center anymore), increase inclusion (in fact it makes so that even aging players can fit into a system as long ad they can hit a 3 at 37%), faster turnaround on investment, and increase parity (we have had six different champions since 2019).
Now this isn’t to minimize the extreme talent that Steph Curry has, but understand that NBA GM and owners are in the business of making money by selling a vision, and no one is going to say “they’ll never be another Curry era Warriors , we might as well not even try

”.
until they make a real change to the rules there is no real reason for any teams to deviate from roster building around spamming the 3 ball.
Contrast this to the NFL where defenses have adjusted to the point where they can completely shut down a passing attack (one that has all of the advantages due to the NFL boosting offenses for fantasy) and the short quarterback revolution is going to soon die off as QBs no longer have all the time in the world to throw and need to be able to see over the line. it’s what makes the NFL a more compelling product, the constant adjustments to keep the game exciting.
