Drake took a L responding to it publicly
But the more I think about the more I think Joe take was off
First off drake is not that old where he needs to distance himself from younger people. Let’s be real, 35 yr old be in the same spaces as 25-30 yr olds for the most part.
And drake does take risks, he does give no name artists a look, he does experiment with different sounds, he does know what the young kids like. None of that is even debatable. It’s how he been relevant for 15 yrs. At some point the PUBLIC needs to make him change , why would he stop doing what’s working until that time. This is a dude who for the most part ain’t on the hood shyt, raps about emotional shyt and getting his feelings hurt and yet ppl still want him to switch up who he obviously is
35 year olds are in a totally different space than 25 year olds
Even 28 year olds

That's a crazy fukking statement

The story goes Jay asked Joe to be on the remix and Joe said no. You decline a feature from one of the biggest, pettiest rappers at that time, and what do you expect?

You are really going to compare Def Jam in the early 00s to Aftermath post 50 and Em prime and Suge’s label (which you didn’t even name)?

You can nitpick label situations. Just look at Papoose or Saigon.

Most of these rappers careers, especially in that era were the result of labels and the gatekeepers determining who has next or would get a push
I thought it was the other way around

The way Joe slurps Jay-Zs dikk I can't imagine him turning down a request

What Joe Budden obviously doesn’t have the capacity to understand:

As with most contemporary pop music acts, the value in Drake’s brand is not in appealing to 40+ year olds. 17 songs from the album are projected to reach top 20 status on the Billboard Hot 100 and he is about to surpass Michael Jackson for the most #1 songs for a solo act. I’d imagine with the reception of this album the creative contributors responsible for the songs sold under the Drake moniker will have new instructions as they go back to the drawing board
Joe almost certainly understands this. I don't understand why people aren't allowed to have this critique. Yeah. the value if Drake's brand is not making music for adults. But why can't adults have an issue with that, or wish that he did more of that? I like some of Drake's music, but I wish he had more music that was relatable to people over 25. What's the problem with people saying what they'd like to hear from artists they listen to?

Nothing Joe said was really off-base and he wasn't even dissing Drake that much. He gave him plenty of props in the clip I saw.

Joe's not brilliant, but he's smart enough to know that Drake's appeal isn't the same as Griselda or even someone like Nas at this point

No successful artist makes music for old people

Once you reach a certain age you have to realize you aren’t the target audience anymore and move on

It’s been that way forever in the entertainment industry

Asking one of the biggest artists in the world to make music for 40 year olds and ignore the demos that actually matter is idiotic to anyone who is actually thinking logically

That's fine. But we as CONSUMERS have the right to say it's not good.

Its the sense of entitlement from "fans" thats the problem.

There is a lane for everything.

He's saying all this and wearing a fukking LOX hat. Sheek is 80 Years old rapping about buck 50s.

Let him talk that shyt about the LOX. Bet money his p*ssy ass won't.

Most real industry insiders have less than 1000 and you don't know who they are. The people that you see and are talking aren't actual insiders. They're talking heads....messengers..
More like 2 to 3K

They aren’t stylizing their profiles playing the ‘look at me, I’m notable on social media’ game
