Up to 400 million……..

this is one of those football deals where are player signs for 150 million ……gets cut at some point and walks away with 12 million :mjlol:
Is...is that supposed to be bad? You (statistically speaking) and 99.9% of the general population wouldn't see that amount of money in 3-4 lifetimes.

Would you tell Michael Jackson to go independent? Whitney Houston? Adele? It makes no sense. Sure Prince did it but let's not forget Prince signed a huge contract (allegedly 100mil) after Purple Rain. He used that money to finance the creation of his own record label, and used Warner for distribution. After grudgingly completing the contract, he then went independent.

This deal with ultimately finance whatever Drake's long term play is. He's smart, he's surrounded by even smarter people, and he's not going anywhere. And just like Prince, he can quickly release albums and complete the deal fast enough to do whatever is next BEFORE he completely falls off.
As a Drake fan, I don't know what people actually expected to happen here. I don't think Hov even actually went fully independent, even with distribution etc.

Plus, that risk of even slightly diminished access isn't something anyone REALLY wants.

Indie artists are relatively content, but you can't build a business to compete with big business AND do big artistry. Still gotta pick one.

Looks like he won't be dropping any new music soon.

It would be wierd for them to push an artist that is currently suing them.

Philly happens all the time tho...the music industry :yeshrug:
