An honest answer from me that's not even Drake specific. It usually waters down the album. It cheapens the good moments on the album. You can have 20 songs, but if only 8 are great, then you got 12 songs of mid. That doesn't make for a good album.

Again, taking the conversation away from Drake, it's the reason why Future's albums last year felt very bland, it's the reason why Chris Brown albums can feel bland. Quality over quantity.

And what if 18 songs out of that 20 song album are fire?

What songs you find great is entirely subjective, and the ratio of songs you like versus songs you dislike to justify an album's quality is completely arbitrary.

People these days are pulling their favorite songs from these albums and putting them into playlists anyways. No one is listening to the entire GNX if they want to revisit Hey Now or Man At The Garden after their first few spins of the entire album.

You're not throwing Luther on your gym playlist, the same way you're not playing Stories About My Brother around women.

After you stream the album in whole a few times, you just revisit the songs you like, and eventually you'll want more music like y'all did when y'all hoped that GNX is just the mixtape before the "real" album.
