Since Jay and Nas have been mentioned in this thread. This is the perfect time for me to ask something I thought about last night. How was it (mainly on Sohh) when they dropped Black Republican? Were there rumors leading up to it (I know they took that legendary photo on stage together, officially squashing the beef)?

I’m a assume both fan bases were arguing who had the better verse.
It was anticipated like nothing ever on SOHH...i remember the night, the first version dropped with a lot of radio and DJ shyt

i belieive flex first had the record. with that being said the record was underwelming imo

Bro it wasn’t random cats who never heard of Nas and Jay commenting on that battle. That just wasn’t happening. Now it’s millions of those types of people there is literally no comparison and I won’t even entertain one.
You’re right about that. My point is that the discourse around Jay v Nas was not focused on rap. It was pure stan wars shyt that still goes on to this day lmao. That shyt was way more about money and business than music. It was also more about weird assumptions about personality and who loves hip hop more or who supports the hood more etc.

I mean I get that. But this is a whole other beast entirely. And it's extremely concerning. If I was big rapper I would completely stay away from rap battles at this point.

It’s Stan culture more than anything. Heavily influenced by the insane behavior seen from American pop fans and Korean jpop fans. It was one thing when a dude from the hood was getting his twitter fingers on at the local library computer lab about Nas/Jay. Now you got gay 16 year old boys out here leaking addresses and school information.
:francis:

But we still can’t deny how the Jay/Nas shyt impacted this. Cole gave a speech once and said back in the day you could make assumptions on the type of rap styles someone preferred based on whether they were a Nas or Jay fan. People also attribute personality traits to them and you see it in barbershops for instance. If you were a smart dumb or legit smart dude people might consider you a Nas fan, if you were a hustler or slick type (or business oriented) you might be assumed as a Jay fan. I never bought into those stereotypes but it was a legit thing that happened.

This is all you have and you can't keep up with the amount of people (rightfully) shytting on this album. Not everyone is a bot Owlette.
Majority on here are bots looks at the ratings they all ran to the thread right away to leave one stars before the album dropped

Kendrick is built on extremely insecure fan base based on propaganda

He’s never been on top and his fans are so scared it won’t last

In many ways Kendrick is the Trump of hip hop (who he danced for at the SB while saying absolutely nothing political) with his maga fan base

Drayoncé is the one appearing on literal MAGA streamers. I don't know what you are smoking to actually believe what you typed out, but you need to share that shyt with the rest of The Booth.
