It would settle either way because if he had them dead to rights they wouldn’t take it to trial. He would ask for some declaratory statement and there’s no way they would admit to that and possibly lead to some other criminal charge that a creative prosecutor could come up with in NY (not that they would either Trump in office).

Then it goes to trial and they have a jury declare the verdict.

He wouldn't (or shouldn't) be settling for anything less than a full blown admission by UMG to what he's being accused of. The money is, and should be secondary.
