He came around at the perfect time when it was acceptable being weird which gave millennials & early gen-zers the green light to wrap their whole identity around him & shyt like "if you don't like drake you don't get bytches" or "you ain't outside" etc. He came into the rap game as a weirdo and won, that's why he can get away with being a weirdo on top. They're weird like he is and wanna win like him too so they call him Papi, The Boy, etc. Compare it to the Trump worship and it all matches

There's a lot of parallels. Nikkas need to bump the original threads from the Drake disses where they swore Drake was winning by a landslide coz kendrick took his time. They claiming he shook etc. Same as looked like trump was winning until they started counting votes from other counties etc. Then all of a sudden it's fraud etc. Stop the count. But seriously, I don’t post often, as you pointed out, but this was a huge rap battle, and it was hard to avoid the conversation. I got curious about what the coli (formerly projectcovo) had to say about it. Honestly, before the battle, I didn’t listen to Drake or Kendrick—they’re not even on my playlist. Outside of this rap battle, I don’t know much about their music or who they are as artists—but I wanted to hear different takes on it, which is why I came here. And oh boy, I definitely found out which way this forum leans. Sheesh. There’s a clear bias.

100% - I think that's reflective of the mainstream audience as well though because as much as Drake has/had a big audience, a lot of them are just casuals and there's probably a lot more that hate him. The rest want to see the execution of the biggest artist just to witness a changing of the guard which is why Like That did so well - the song doesn't have a video to this day lol.

I also don't think the role of Like That is talked about enough in this because the whole campaign started from there. UMG had an interest in both WDTY and WSDTY due to Metro's involvement so it's fukking wild how UMG cleared not one but TWO albums where the whole rollout for about a month was geared around disrespecting one their biggest assets. What's also wild is that two of the songs they've pushed for Grammy consideration (Like That and Not Like Us) are Drake diss tracks....they're playing in his face and not even trying to hide it
