aubrey is a talented songwriter
but I been known the subject matter ain't going nowhere

to some the sound may be exhausted because it doesn't really come from him
it's mimicry of the personas and experiences of the artists and individuals he looks up to
he surrounds himself with people he can draw from
he does have an acting background

he said it himself way back "and I'm easily influenced by the nikkas I'm around"
he's not a dope boy a trap nikka or a don he just talks/raps like he thinks one would
it's time for some new friends drizzy

or maybe he goes back to being that kid who wanted to be phonte from lil brother:yeshrug:*

Put the Drake pom poms down for a minute. Mixtape is meh. Last 3 tracks and 10 bands Go but the rest sounds like throwaway shyt. No where near touching SFG. 6PM in New York is PIFF. I wanted more of that.
I agree with this. Majority of the heat was at the end, overall its lackluster.

You acknowledge that they have two different messages........but assume Drake could neutralize Kendrick ...wtf?

Drake can't draw from the black experience in America......he can only borrow and mimic cadence

He draws from his personal struggles with women NOT as an underprivileged minority

How genuine would it be if Drake started talking about socio-economics, gender warfare, gang violence and police brutality ?

Drake is safe breh.....he's not a risk taker - at all.

these threads are always amusing.

people jump the gun on things, people too eager.
people going over the top with the bashing, people too much with the praise.

too early for me to give my main thoughts on it but the mixtape has a real between albums feel to it.
seems like he had a bunch of joints from stash when he was doing NWTS, spruced them up along with the songs he's done all the way up to now and put it together in a nicely presented package to tide people over..hopefully the sound evolves on his next album and "that" flow is left in 2014.

from the music and the little mini movie, seems like he's got a little case of melancholy.

i know it won't happen because both are dropping their actual albums this year...can we leave the goofy Drake/Kendrick argument in 2013 ?
it's boring and tedious..the Jay and Nas shyt been going more than a decade and it never got as tiresome as that manufactured "beef" by stans wanting to one up each other.

Not in a rush to listen, will listen when the hype dies down.

It's like people don't listen to albums to enjoy them, they do it so they can be the first ones to comment on it. There's very few albums to me that I like right away. Most times I have to sit with for a minute to know if I like it or not.

i always end up missing posting in these long ass album threads when a "big" artist drops because i like to sit on it before giving my thoughts on it.

shyt is a nice collection of songs, question is where Drake can go from here.
Has he flexed everything he has or is he just warming up? Anyways almost every song is dope, for what it is, suprisingly cohesive for being a "collection of songs"/mixtape.
