can't?

or won't?

because drake speaks on conscious topics all the time... but clearly he's not trying to fill that lane but he drops lines all the time showing he's up on whats going on.

Drake CAN do it and when he does it, ya'll sweep that shyt under the rug.
Please enlighten me on this, not on some Jay Z throw in a stop and frisk name drop but show me where he legit speaks on a conscious topic rap song interview w/e

Half way through this and it sounds like throwaway tracks with Garage band beats? :francis:

This album/tape is crack. Dope Cohesive production. Dope sticky hooks. New Flows. New Subject matter. Best he's been since So Far Gone. The music just feels real organic. Nothin forced on here. Im really impressed with this joint. I like how it builds up from the swag/trap rap to the classic introspective Drake. I thought it was over for Drake when he dropped that NWTS. Its cold to ser him back in rare form. He didnt let loose with the pen as much as he could have but he put together a rock solid project regardless. And apparently this is just the mixtape. So hopefully when he drops the official album itll be on an even higher level. But for now...Imma enjoy this shvt. 5/5

Sleep to the world in general....nikkas need to wake up...

Drake is so far gone from any conscious rap he spit in his past, he'll never be the same...

Drake could never make anything on the level as what Kendrick did...if you think otherwise, you're fooling yourself...
Man, don't, or let anyone else, make this Kendrick vs. Drake. Great artists in their own right ... And this is dope. And that's all.

I never said it did, you brought that up, all I'm sayin is Drake can't make conscious music, and he knows it so he sticks ot his lane and it's been workin for him.
or maybe.

He doesnt want to

Maybe

He use music as a sort of therapeutic process to speak on his OWN life....and not all the ills of the world or society

Ppl make music for different reasons :yeshrug:

he did a song with snoop a while back called No Guns Allowed, and he used to do it a lot more in his Room of Improvement/Comeback Season days

And yes, he does do it in a Jay Z fashion if you want to call it that.

But to say he can't or doesn't is flat out wrong.

He's not in the business of taking a track to talk about race relations. He speaks about how he was raised and how it affected him all the time.
