You have to put an asterisk next to these numbers if you are going to try to compare them to sales figures of the past. Back when a rapper would be platinum but we wouldn't be counting bootlegs, dubs. On the other side of it, we'd had no idea how much people would be listening to the album. We all bought albums back in the days that we listened to once and never again.

It wasn't so much that people hated on him...hip hop had already been watered down by 2000 when he debuted. It was more that he just didn't factor into discussions of who was the best. People cared about rapping back then

Of course he knows and so do the other notorious Drake Stans because two of them are from the UK and Canada who were listening to the album early on Apple Music, most likely since it was an exclusive off the bat....
