Off early listens how does it compare to Her Loss?
There's not as much straight forward rap on this, a lot of beat switches, even if the songs aren't particularly R&B, there's a lot of parts that don't have rapping. So if you a rap head, it won't be as good

But I think this is musically more ambitious and feels bigger than Her Loss. And even though drake himself isn't rapping better on this than her loss, the other features like cole shine brighter (obviously) than 21 did on her loss. Looking back on it 21 didn't have any great moments on it, IMO, he had a very standard performance.

Came into this thread expecting "Drake fell off..." comments and it did not disappoint

EVENTUALLY y'all nikkas will may be right, but that day is not today. This will be a #1 album with basically the entire album in the Hot 100.

It definitely still gonna do well.

An an album though this isn’t the worst he’s made, but it’s definitely going to blend in the middle of his discography like everything since Views has done.

Drakes albums are always long

Take care is only 1 min. Shorter than this

:what:
And that’s always been a stated weakness, that was one of the things I didn’t like about Take Care. Only time he ever made something concise track wise was Nothing Was the Same, and it was still almost an hour. He’s got a problem with bloat.

Sound sound sound
And that’s always been a stated weakness.

What’s the weakness?

He essentially puts out 2 albums every project..it’s like half r&besque and half modern sounding rap

It’s basically his formula

by saying “the albums too long” they basically saying cut out the songs I don’t like (which Is usually the r&b ish type songs)

But guess what…there’s a whole other market that LOVES those songs from him

What that got to do with how the "music" sounds?

If it’s a double disc situation, okay. In terms of an actual project/release, that’s too much. I was never one to compartmentalize his music as Hip hop drake or R&B drake, just deliver good music.

Honestly it isn’t so much his fault as the model of traditional albums moving in another direction, We’re in the playlist era anyway and people just pick and listen to what they want.

Even mfs in here talking about they didn’t finish it and don’t know if they will. People don’t value the complete experience anymore so “what does it matter?” is probably how he approaches it.

Damn that sucks, cause Her Loss was very enjoyable and after dropping something like “8am In Charlotte”, expectations are raised.
On third listen and I'll bump to a 3.5/5. May grow to a 4 by end of the weekend. Def some vibes on here and more variety than Her Loss.
