Lets break it down.

2010 - Kanye was on Top
2011- Jay Z/Kanye
2012- Kendrick Lamar
2013- Drake/J.Cole/Asap/Ross/Kendrick
2014. Drake
2015- Future
2016 Drake
2017 -Kendrick Lamar
2018 - J.Cole/Cardi/Travis/Drake
2019. DaBaby/YoungBoy/Travis Scott

Nah numbers show he dominated them year in year out.

Now my favorite album from that period is Good Kid Mad city, but the stats say Drake was still on top.

My peers are a talented group
But even if you take all their statistics and carry the two
Even if you rounded up the numbers and rounded the troops
There's still nothin' they could really do

:wow:

Carter 4 did as much as Take Care and WTT combined. I also believe Eminem MMLP2 dominated the year it dropped.
But yea, who is running shyt and sales are not fully synonymous, such as Post Malone or Macklamore.

I get that this is a lost tapes type of album or mixtape of you want, but calling More Life or IYRTITL a playlist and mixtape respectively is just weird.

If shyt is sold like an album, promoted like an album, financed like an album, movies for promo, hell even Apple promos. How can it be anything other than an album? Just because the singles aren't targeting both 7 year old kids and 59 year old women listening to radio? Nah.

Drake is the weirdest artist I've ever come across

I like a lot of his singles and hate/dislike every full album he's ever made

Only Eminem comes close and I really liked the Marshall Mathers LP and somewhat like the Slim Shady album

But I can't find 1 album in 10yrs+ from this guy I like

Don't understand it
I have a similar thing with dude. His singles and hits are anthem like, but then I tend to never really replay the albums after they drop.

His formula for music is like a HR hitter. He's not going for singles, he's either missing me with some of the music or hitting it out the park. It's definitely weird, but his impact and longevity is undeniable at this point.

They promoted More Life as a "playlist" before it ever dropped. As nonsensical as that may be, it's what they called it

shyt was different with If You're Reading This... though cause that shyt fell out of the sky and after it dropped they seemingly assessed the initial response before deciding what to call it. This was right when the divide between albums and mixtapes was really becoming blurred (and when artists were redefining failed "debut albums" as "retail mixtapes") so it was a strategic move to label If You're Reading This a mixtape since that didn't come with the same expectations
