Drake in his bag on Pipe Down, I don’t really care for “Singing Drake” like that and I am more a fan of “Rapping Drake”

But this joint is smooth as hell and that beat is lovely :ohlawd:
It’s also something he’s never done before

Evoking emotion and frustration and vulnerability in his flow

@Larry Legend said Drake should be creative tho

A let this breathe for a few days

Not trash, not phenomenal

Will be keeping about 4 cuts

6/10

Maybe drake is in his blueprint 3/Magna Carter Phase and will come back with a 4:44

He’s certainly capable
BP3 >444

this site loves boring music

I love the album but I just can’t wrap my head around the such mixed reactions until just now. At first I am was looking at everyone’s negative opinions as haters or miserable ass folk. When you look close everyone loves different songs on the album, it’s like there isn’t a stand out track where 90% of everyone can say this is the best track. I don’t really have a standout favorite depending on the mood I have multiple tracks i fk with the most.

I keep hearing drake doesn’t take chances or show growth. I mean shyt what you want for this guy he has more flows than anyone in the game and perfected most. Then there’s the r&b Drake, simping Drake, Rapping Drake, Trap Drake, island Caribbean Drake, a damn UK Drill Drake and more

He takes more chances than any rapper I have ever seen. So overall what I get from all this is everyone has there different opinion of what Drake should sound like and wants him to cater in there direction 100%. Instead of staying in one lane like most rappers he reaches out in multiple directions and give you a balanced package to try to please all.

IMO he did a damn good job on this album I give it a solid 9 easy but of course that’s my opinion.

Is it just me or is this album missing that classic R&B Drizzy track? More Life had Teenage Fever, Views had Fire & Desire, Scorpion had Peak and also Jaded, and Dark Lanes Demo Tapes had Not You Too.

I take back what I said and fukking Fans is classic r&b Drizzy. Sorry for doubting you Drake.

Not for me :yeshrug:. The three pack that Drake dropped a while back was much more my speed. I'll give it another spin tho

After sitting with this album for a couple of days I still maintain this is pretty good, probably a 7.5 or 8 out of 10 (still think Donda is better though). I think the hate it’s getting from critics and social media is a bit much but understandable. There’s nothing here he hasn’t done before and I don’t think there’s a song here that would be considered an all time Drake song. More Life, Views (for better of worse), IYRTITL, Take Care, DLDT & NWTS all felt fresh and unique, even his biggest haters can’t deny that. Yet this album just felt like an extension of Scorpion.

It’s disappointing because he had a love heart in his head for a whole year yet this feels safe instead of sticking to the Loverboy theme. I know the song is hated here but I feel Way 2 Sexy fit that theme and this album needed more of that and songs like fukking Fans.

At the same time I can’t blame him for playing it safe, he’s a decade into his run with multiple classics and nothing else to prove. Look at Kendrick, TPAB is one of the GOAT rap albums imo but that almost fukked up his career. It gets a lot of love from critics but it’s divisive on social media and people I’ve talked to and the numbers show it. The album is not even top 100 most streamed on Spotify yet GKMC is and that came out before streaming was popping like that.

I can fukk with this assessment.

The album is very Drake. If you're a huge fan since the beginning, this is your speed. If you listen to him because he has a record on radio then you probably think it's ok.
