You're trying way too hard to defend this album bruh.

I haven't heard anyone flat out call it some shyt but I have heard people say that it's great and that's a bit of a stretch to me.

I don't love it but I don't hate it either. It's a Drake album. He's par for the course when it comes to surface level content. It ain't good but it ain't bad.
Gotta remember you're replying to Napolean he is a Drake stan through and through don't bother he sees no fault in this project. Don't bother lol

Two things can be true as far as the maturing aspect. We're all getting older, but also, currently a lot of veterans are making some dope music, and late career veterans at that.

And as far as Scorpion, that is peak tik tok music. Ain't no real highs on that album.

Passionfruit is pretty mid and forgettable, so I know that's not true. You Only Live Twice, 7am On Bridle Path, Love All, Knife Talk > Passionfruit
Scorpion is pre TikTok songs

Gods son, nonstop, Nice for what and mob ties

Sounds like a bunch of excuses. The Off-Season and King's Disease II both received praise in the real world. They're respected as great projects. People are going to go back and listen to them because they're good. Nobody is going to remember this album existed in a couple years.

And if you really think The Off-Season doesn't sound differently than his last three albums, I have no idea what you're listening to. The last time he made a song like "Applying Pressure" was probably seven years ago with "Fire Squad." The production is a major step up from KOD, where a lot of the beats blended into each other. Again, I have no idea what you're listening to with claims like that.

And are you serious with Nas' discography after God's Son? He didn't try making an album with a completely different tone and approach every time he dropped? Didn't try working with new producers, exploring new concepts? Even though King's Disease II is a sequel, it goes out of its way to separate itself from the first one in almost every category. What is wrong with you? :mindblown:

Drake has dominated for years with hits, but there's a reason people don't hold up his marathon albums like that. He's a singles artist, and he has been for a long time.

I haven’t listened to Nas since god son. I’m not a Stan

the off-season is better than Cole’s prior 2 albums but it’s nothing new or experimental

applying pressure is lyrical miracle. That’s the worse song on the album

Yeah but that's usually the difference between casuals and/or hardcore heads. You're more likely to run into the opinion of a hardcore critic on the internet than IRL.
A truly transcendent artist would have both types of music consumers in agreement

The fallacy here is that most invested listeners believe only their tastes or the artists that resonate with them are more pure or valid.

Always funny seeing how the internet receives albums like this and then you go out into the real world and see everyone bumping this shyt outside and giving it love
nikkas will hype some absolute bullshyt on here and claim its a classic and that shyt gets no spins anywhere but on a niche corner of the internet, but god forbid nikkas fukk with an album by a mainstream rapper on here
Breh the boys in here hating are the same ones out bumping this shyt. You see that waited up all night to listen, just so they can come in here and be a part of the hate group. :russ:

Not only this, but also a lot of people can tell greatness even if it isn't their preference. Just yesterday someone was in the thread with the new Anderson Paak single saying that Paak isn't their cup of tea, but that they realize he makes amazing music.

The most transcendent artists have a way of either getting everyone to enjoy their music, or at least respect it.

I think Drake is very talented and a dope artist, but if I had any critique it's that I think there's a bit of shallowness to his content, and/or that it just never continued to grow and develop past a certain point. And honestly I wouldn't even level that critique at Drake if he didn't mention himself among the all-time greats. I still think he's dope, but I think his music just sticks to my ribs a little less than some of his peers.

It's frustrating because the Drake joints I love I really love. I just don't have a lot of grey area with his music. Most of it I love or hate.
