Man, I'm only fukking with Capcom Pawns until the rest of these fools stop spreading the plague around. I literally had to dismiss 4 followers in a row because they started showing symptoms right after I hired them It's way more prevalent once you're level 35+

Just walk around the big city market and walk slow. Turn around and eventually be a dude with a hood on. Hawk him down and grab him like you’re going to pick him up.
Never played the first one but man this shyt is amazing
From running scared of ogres (first one I fought sweet chin music my ass off a bridge), ducking the smoke with griffons (first one just landed and wiped my whole party), to just getting lost in exploring and having my pawns get me into all types of fukkery. Ran into a fukking Chimera napping by some temple ruins

*I did about every sidequest aside from the Sphinx stuff (it honestly just sounded tedious and not fun, and the rewards were lackluster ) and i didn’t really do the collect-a-thon stuff.
My thoughts and feelings at the moment is I’d rate the game about what the score is sitting at on Metacritic. Which is an 87. I think I’d put it at about an 83-85 but something in the mid 8 range isn’t too bad. The first 15 hours of the game i thought this was easily going to dethrone FF7 Rebirth as my GOTY but i feel like there’s a lot of stubborn design decisions that hold it back from truly ascending. This game is like a few QoL and a lot of added content changes away from being like 10 points higher for me.
The Good
Incredible combat mechanics, this is the highlight of the game, climbing on things, throwing boulders, hitting weak points, how you command your pawns, all A+ stuff. This is the most unique and fun aspect of the game, the immersive combat elements.
Art direction and character creator, mostly the latter is the best I’ve used and it made the pawn system even more interesting.
The pawn system itself is a good idea, it’s like the ‘Strand’ system from death stranding how you share and carry stuff from other peoples worlds.
Traversing the world, it feels grand and epic, not like a bunch of copy and pasted buildings that make a village like some open world games
Fun and inventive weapon skills
The Bad
Game is extremely short. If you aren’t really doing the collect-o-thon stuff and really scraping the plate for things to do, the game is over in like 30 hours with side quest, i did a lot to extend my playtime (Mastered a bunch of vocations, aimlessly explored until i got bored, etc.). This is also considering the amount of padding added due to the very frequent enemy encounters and lack of fast travel without ferrystones. There was a while where i thought i would go for the platinum then i read the trophy list and said, ‘yeah, naw..’
Lack of variety, it feels like the first 15 hours is god tier game of the century rpg-ing, and after that it fizzles a bit due to a lack of enemies and biomes. You pretty much see and experience 90% of the game by the time youre done with Brant’s quests. The first trip to vernworth and the first few sidequest exploring the area was epic. Everything after vernworth isn’t even worth talking about
Story is trash
Inventory management
Outside of the main theme, music is pretty forgettable
Not enough vocations and not enough to do once you max ranked them which for me was early,
Again lack of variety, traversing the world gets boring whe nyou’re fighting goblins, slime, sirens, bandits, wolves constantly. It’s really fun fighting the big stuff at first but it too gets kinda “been there, done that” after 15 hours or so. They don’t really change up the strategy or even a simple palette swap would help
The content after vernworth is lackluster, it’s like one big desert and 5 main quests once you get there. Nothing else new really happens
Trash performance
Dragonsplague combined with it essentially forcing me to buy wakestones on the store so i didn’t ahve to grind to revive npc’s to finish quest.
First half of the game is a 10/10 but i was pretty disappointed with the latter half, not gonna lie. I will still be hype as hell for when the DLC gets announced because my biggest problem with the game that makes everything else seem trivial is just a simple lack of content. The game just needed a bit more of everything, skills, vocations, regions, enemy types, quest lines, more pawn interactions and dialogue, etc.
