Goku stated that Vegeta trains harder than him and Vegeta is stated as recognizing that even if he trains harder, Goku has more natural talent.
Lets not forget (like most people try to) that MUCH of Goku's ability was gained when he was dead and allowed to keep his body. In Otherworld, he doesnt have to eat or sleep or get harmed.
You can train more intensely. Thats a benefit thats not afforded to Vegeta. Thats why SSJ3 didnt work in the real world. It consumes more energy that a living body can produce to function correctly. Thats more respect on Vegeta.

Vegeta was a Saiyan Elite Class. He was born the strongest saiyan alive at the time and was washing whole planets while Goku was only as strong as Krillin at that time. Kid Vegeta was washing whole squads of Saibamen dolo that took Adult Goku killing himself with Piccolo’s help to beat Raditz. And Saibamen had the same power level as Raditz. Goku couldn’t beat one, Vegeta as a kid beat a whole squad of them. Vegeta was part of Friezas personal force with Zarbon and Dodoria washing planets but dude said he was only fukking with soft targets.
