What's up DB Fans. Been a while since I did a review in here. So I was able to finally check out the film. It was by far the best Dragon Ball Movie since the 90's . Don't get me wrong, "Battle Of Gods", "Resurrection" and "Broly" were all fun as well. I think Freeza's return is the most shocking obviously. Broly movie felt like a remix of the originals but I still liked it. Gogeta was cool but was better to me in the "Fusion Reborn" film. Anyway though this is a sequel to "Broly" and the series. It felt connected to the original Red Ribbon Film "Super Android 13" which is one of my Fav Dragon Ball Movies. Red Ribbon has an amazing history in this franchise. This movie really highlighted that. It was literally the Revenge of Red Ribbon. Loved the flashbacks of all their battles from the past. As soon as the snow shot and young Goku came on, I knew this was going to be a good movie. The biggest reason this movie worked so well is that for once Goku and Vegeta took the back seat. Though their sparring session on Beerus Planet was dope. Broly even didn't have huge part.
I loved how Piccolo was basically the main character. I also loved GOAThan type stories in the films (Bojack Unbound, Broly 2) It shows Piccolo training Pan at the beginning. It shows him fighting the new andriods. He looked so ILL in the Red Ribbon uniform as he turned into a spy and invaded their Base. I was laughing so hard at him telling Pan to play along with the kidnapping. Pan went in, she had so much energy. You can see the shades of "GT" in this movie. GOAThan Haters....time to man up. I've been defending him this entire thread. I've said time and time again technically he can be the most powerful. That's right. New form. They calling it Beast, lol. I guess this was his version of the God Form maybe? Both new androids were drop Gamma 1 +2. I also liked Dr. Gero grandson Dr. Hedo, he was such sinister genius, lol. The movie was funny, had tight action and the climax was crazy.
So before the movie came out I had a feeling it was going to be some form of Cell in that machine cooking. I like what they did, basically created a new version that wasn't the Cell before. But this version wasn't completed yet so it was uncontrollable. Cell Max was crazy. I know some people are nitpicking the design or that he was a brainless monster (Ala Bio-Broly) but no, this was much better than Bio-Broly. I was loving every minute. Just a wild villain that was basically unstoppable. Goku and Vegeta definitely would of had their hands full. Even Broly. Now GOAThan said at the end Cell Max power would have been an issue for his Pops and Vegeta. Piccolo getting a new form and using some OG moves was nice too. They basically did a Kaiju thing with Orange Piccolo and Cell Max. Krilliin had my laughing so hard in this. I just love how he understands he's a human being but his power is his heart and courage. Goten and Young Trunks didn't get a lot of time but it was cool seeing them as teens.
Fat Gotanks was used as comic relief again, lol. I was shocked Andriod 17 only had flashbacks, it would of been cool for him to be in this movie. Of course Andriod 18 got in on the action at the end. Surprised Master Roshi didn't get a scene. Overall it was a fun movie and had a very throwback feel with it being a GOAThan/Piccolo centric story. LOL @ Bulma and her crazy wishes. It was cool to know if Goku and Vegeta are off world, the Z Fighters can still take care of business (Just like they did when GOAThan took out Bojack with Goku being gone.). This was basically GOAThan's wake up call to get back to business. Loved it, can't wait to this comes out on DVD/Home video. I liked the story and how even Red Ribbon had to team up to stop Cell Max. Also the 3D was interesting. GOAThan taking out some heaving hitters in this movies and on the show. Cell Jr's, Cell, Cell Max, Broly (Broly 2 Film) Bojack. Damn.
