infact the entire world of DB(earth) has been retconned somewhat from being very fantasy toned, to now being turned into being more realistic setting with some sci-fi in it with a little bit of fantasy with the talking animals.
Everything else in DB earth has been made to be like our earth, except they have aliens.

I'm not saying he's never retconned stuff period, I'm saying he didn't retcon Broly because there's nothing to retcon to begin with
I agree. But look at this this way...Toriyama's version of Broly is pretty much automatically going to be better than the OG because the latter was so wack. It's literally impossible to write a version of Broly that's worse than he already is.
There's basically nowhere to go but up.

Honestly, Movie 8 Broly is really only decent in comparison to the other two.
His backstory and motive (if you can even call it that) were never very good in the first place and he has no personality outside of being angry and violent. Only difference is that in the last two Broly movies they said fukk it and didn't even pretend he had an actual story, motive, or personality.
This. Plus Frieza was already the villain of the last movie. Give that nikka a break.
Would be hilarious if he went through that whole tournament and getting wished back just to get killed the exact same way a couple months later tho.
