I dont have anything else to play until 2k drops at a reasonable price on the 11th so I been only playing this and it's good as hell.
I'm recruiting the final party members of the game (to my knowledge) at the moment. Gonna warn you guys ahead of time if yall hate spoilers don't go to the casino after you get a ship, the casino basically tells you something you arent supposed to know at that stage of the game. It threw me off.

The game really picks up once you get a party member to join you. Before that it was really really slow.
Also the shops are super expensive, and enemies give low amounts of experience and gold....so get a podcast or some shyt and be ready to grind.

The JRPG market is so weird right now. Games that would be considered mediocre decades ago are now top tier. Dragon Quest games have historically been mediocre and underwhelming so it's weird seeing people get excited for this latest entry. Standards are being lowered.

8 lets you see your characters on screen and it's arguably the best game in the series, give that one a try.
This one is ramping up but I can't say it's better than 8 (yet). We'll see if it holds up long enough, it's missing ONE feature that made 8 so great IMO but I'll wait and see if it shows up in this game.
