I'm optimistic for the future of DBZ. If Toriyama just shyts out movies every year then DBZ will just turn into garbage.
If he actually decides to not be lazy and start up the actual manga again and put some effort into a coherent story then DBZ may have a bright future.
But these little yearly specials will not do the franchise justice.
My dream would be that Toriyama would announce the 3rd movie and that that movie will kick off the continuation of the weekly manga and possible anime. Call it Dragon Ball Z: Shippuden or whatever idc. I wouldn't mind a time skip of about 3 or 4 years either.
Goten and Trunks would be a little bit older than Gohan when he fought cell. About 13 and 14, maybe 15. But that would be the perfect age for them to still be "kiddy" but also be able to be taken seriously. Which is an age group that we haven't really gotten to see in DBZ.
Goku and Vegeta will be the top dogs for a while but over time Goten and Trunks could be raised to somewhat be their successors. Maybe even after a while have Goku train Trunks and Vegeta train Goten. Kinda taking a page from their training with Weiss in order to strengthen their weakness because Goten and Trunks share very similar traits to their fathers.
Time goes on and Goku and Vegeta truly become best friends, partners, and equals.
And then finally when the mantle has been passed we would see Goten wear a Vegeta-like Saiyin armor and Trunks wear a Goku-like fighting Gi, signifying the training they've received but to also signify the close relationship Vegeta and Goku have and how its been passed down to their sons.
I'm optimistic
