Finished this morning with the good ending. Didn’t realize I did everything I needed to do to get the post credits scene. Worth the money spent and deleted from the hard drive, for now, unless they surprise us with DLC.

Alright so what's the consensus on this game? Is this a buy, buy on discount, or a skip?
The people who hate this mostly already hated it before it came out but it’s a decent game dialogue aside but

If you’re really interested buy it physical you can always return it if you don’t like it or wait for a discount

This game is waaay longer than it should be my side quest OCD doesn't let me go straight to main story but I'm pretty sure I'm almost done with them. Cleared Treviso, Docktown and the Grey Warden Spot. Necropolis making me take trips to every nation to get ride of 1 fukking spirit, at this stage of the game, is annoying as hell :bryan:

Discount for sure. There really is no rush to buy and play this game.

If you can stomach about 5% worth of WOKE...OMG dialogue, I'd say it's a buy. Then again, I've never played a DA game before, so I didn't come in with any expectations. It has dropped crazily on Steam, and some people also complained of repetitive combat, but then BMW is currently a GOTY contender with 90% of its player-base in China, so....

^^^ the above was sodium-enriched, yes.

Finally finished it. Everything after the point of no return was dope as fukk. Getting to that point was a fukking chore though.

A fun to play for the most part, but eventually a forgettable game. This really was an Andromeda-like effort by BioWare :francis:

It's a shame this game got marred by the DEI Rage Brigade. I've been back at it today after a week off and it's still incredible to me. The level of detail literally everywhere is surreal. I just got done with the dwarven city quest to help Hardin, and the scale of the environment is massive. The music in that boss battle had me immersed (surround sound with a subwoofer is a gamechanger). Felt straight out of GoT. And that Ice and Fire mission. Jeeeeesus Christ

After 120 hours on one play through, I’d say this was an 8-8.5/10 :ehh:

Gameplay was mostly excellent and addicting, tho the longevity of it sometimes suffered from the same issues that plagued dragon dogma 2: that is, you can only configure 4 total abilities at a time, with restrictions tied to the 1 specialization you can select at a time… and so with the hoards of battles you face, it feels like an unnecessary limitation that makes you want to inevitably switch up your load out to avoid things getting stale but not every ability is that great or worth switching sub specializations for, so it sometimes feels like a tedious exercise. imo should’ve had more ability slots or had access to everything.

i.e. Imagine if in GoW you had to choose between chaos blade, ice axe, or spear user but you couldn’t have all 3 at once. You instead had to go to the menu and refund one for the other.

I was a warrior and ultimately I chose the grey warden specialization because the perfect parry stuff allowed me the most combat diversification. The other specializations got old spamming the same abilities.

Story-wise, I enjoyed the main quest and companion quests (the latter being a bit too predictable with the reveals but still fun). Didn’t find the dialogue cringy; hell, most of the corny jokes were because I chose that dialogue option. I do see why one reviewer said the companions felt a bit too “safe” tho. I’d say it’s more-so (or compounded) that they lack sufficient depth.

Romance-wise
my plan was to pick Neve but it was feeling kinda mid so last second I pivoted to the more energetic Bellara for the commitment… that was a mistake. :beli:

To me the game seemingly had Neve as the intended top female with more story and side quests moments between her and Rook. Conversely Bellara probably had the least focus out of all the women, so by the end the romance felt kinda ham-fisted and uninspired.

Whereas the BG3 girls (pick any) had progressively more depth to them once you peeled back the layers, I felt that was lacking here.

That's very interesting. I picked Neve from the get go and ended up thinking the game wanted me to pair up with Bellara instead, as it gave me a bunch of dialogues/1 on 1 conversations were they kinda set me up to pick a romance dialogue option (and I never did, lol). Her story also seemed to me like the game was telling me "she needs/wants a partner" waaay more than Neve, imo. Neve felt like I had to convince her for 95% of the game that it was ok to fukk and she could do her thing in Docktown and be with me as well :mjlol:

Also, Neve coining "Trouble" as her endeering way of calling me felt corny as shyt :pachaha:

Neve even hooks up with that spanish dude in the party if you don't romance her.
