I could never connect with The Shining but Dr. Sleep was immediately a standout film to me.
Yea, I wasn't a huge fan of The Shining. I really did t come around to Stephen King when I was a kid until they dropped The Stand. I believe they played all 5 parts day to day on NBC when it came out.

I was only like 6-7 or some shyt but that whole story amazed me as a kid. What probably the first post apocalyptic movie I had ever seen. shyt was dope asf (I think the remake was also very good).

I've never enjoyed a scary movie this much. From beginning to the end, everything about that movie was fire. Abra took the crown as my favorite character in all of Stephen King movies. The confidence the lil girl had in her powers just worked so damn well with the overall vibe of the movie.

Rose the Hat was a naturally terrifying character, she killed that role. The scene in the movie theater when the young pusher chick finessed the pedo out of his wallet and cut a signature sign on his face, only to try that pusher shyt on Rose a few minutes later was a dope ass scene.

I read that they were working on a sequel, but they cancelled it because Dr Sleep didn't do well in theatres (didn't it drop around Covid?).

We need a part 2 to this shyt. Or maybe even a TV show based on Abra. Regardless, I want more of this story.

I loved this book and movie. I think the story is over for now, unless King writes a third part.

Also, the S KIng TV show Castle Rock from a few years ago was good. It had a twist in the 2nd season that was amazing.

Kinda slow at times but definitely worth a binge watch. It's also related to Salem's Lot location wise and the Salem's Lot story comes up at times, though no relation to vampires.

I can't remember the old Salem's Lot and I'm not a fan of Vampires so I been avoiding that shyt all these years.

For the old and new one, should I go ahead and watch those?

This been coming on TV for a few months and I kept skipping it. Forgot to turn the channel one night and saw Rebecca in the opening scene and watched it. Been kicking myself because I almost completely missed this.

Seen The Shining multiple times and never knew there was a sequel. About to order Doctor sleep and a few more King books this week. Ended up watching the movie a few more times. Not really a fan of horror movies, but this hits different with its supernatural and psychological elements done right. Has good characters and themes. Watching "scary" movies during October and you realize how many trash movies this genre produces.

I always considered it a great fantasy/sci-fi movie with horror themes sprinkled on top. The mechanics of the movie aren't meant to make you jump, or force your imagination to wonder what’s around the corner or in the shadows. The sense of dread come naturally. It comes from having to ask ourselves if this good (a broken alcoholic + an adolescent girl) can really overcome so much evil (an equally strong, near immortal force that eats what makes the good so strong).

This is the direction that the Dark Tower/Gunsling movie should have taken instead of forcing the imagery to pretend to be sexy, with iconic poses, completely skipping out on re-telling a great story. It also should have been a series.
